Repair

Repair IMEI
  1. Select "Qualcomm" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
  2. "Phone model" dropdown box has to be set to "Autodetect"
  3. Go to "IMEI" tab
  4. Power the phone ON (ZTE Z222 device should be connected when it’s powered off)
  5. Connect the phone to PC with USB cable
  6. Install required ZTE handset USB driver (only if the phone is connected for the first time); in some cases drivers can be installed automatically
  7. Select USB Modem port in the ports selection tab
  8. Enter IMEI number in the "Phone IMEI" field
  9. Press "Restore IMEI"
  10. The message "Done" indicates that procedure was completed successfully
  11. Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in the dialog window; only after that you can turn the phone off

** PC connection of the phone has to be set to USB (not Bluetooth)

Unlock

Direct Unlock

  3. Go to "Unlock" tab
  4. Power the phone ON (ZTE Z222 device should be connected when it’s powered off)
  5. Connect the phone to PC with USB cable
  6. Install required ZTE handset USB driver (only if the phone is connected for the first time); in some cases drivers can be installed automatically
  7. Select USB Modem port in the ports selection tab
  8. Press "Unlock" button *
  9. The message "Unlocking phone... Done" indicates that procedure was completed successfully
  10. Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in the dialog window; only after that you can turn the phone off

* In case of unknown firmware version detection, the software will suggest unlocking the phone using the heuristic method. During the extended heuristic method operation the phone will be restarted, so please wait till the process is completed. In the end of heuristic unlock mode procedure, please send the log file to our support.

Read User Code
  1. Select "Qualcomm" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
  2. "Phone model" dropdown box has to be set to "Autodetect".
  3. Go to "Unlock" tab
  4. Power the phone ON (ZTE Z222 device should be connected when it’s powered off)
  5. Connect the phone to PC with USB cable
  6. Install required ZTE handset USB driver (only if the phone is connected for the first time); in some cases drivers can be installed automatically
  7. Select USB Modem port in the ports selection tab
  8. Press "Get Unlock Codes" button
  9. The message "Reading unlock codes... Done" indicates that procedure was completed successfully
  10. Disconnect the handset

Unlocking with heuristic method

In general ZTE phone unlocking lasts several seconds. But what do we do when we stumble on unknown firmware version?


If you'll try to unlock the phone that has an unsupported firmware version, software will prompt you to choose heuristic method of unlocking. In this case, process can take several minutes. If the software won't find required for unlock data, it will give you two more available options:


  1. Extended heuristic method of unlocking:
    With this method search process will take a little bit longer. During the operation your phone will restart automatically several times. In some cases you'll be prompted to restart a phone manually.
  2. Read Dump from the phone:
    This option allows you to read Dump from your phone and send it to support. It is highly recommended to close all applications and do not perform any actions with your PC during the dump reading process. Unlocking feature for this firmware version will be added with next updates.

Choose one of them.


Wait till the process will complete. In the end of procedure send the log or DUMP file to [email protected]

Reminder! Before servicing the phone, please make sure that:

  1. You use the latest version of the software
  2. Battery must be connected to the phone's board and fully charged. Especially while performing operations using testpoint.
  3. All the side programs, that may interfere with the phone, are closed
  4. Phone’s cable and device itself should not be disconnected or disturbed until the procedure is fully completed
  5. Connect phone to USB port placed on the backside of PC (motherboard's USB port)
    Do not connect or disconnect other USB cables into the PC during the actual work with the phone
  6. Avoid using any kind of USB HUBs and long USB cables. Use the shortest-length USB cable available.
  7. Phone has stock (factory) firmware version
  8. SIM card is removed
