Qualcomm: Sony Android Smartphones

Enable USB Debugging and Root
  • Remove SIM card and then power the phone ON.
  • Enable USB debugging on your device:
    • Android 2.0-2.3.x: Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging. 
    • Android 3.0- 4.1.x: Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging. 
    • Android 4.2.x and higher: Settings > About Phone > Build number > Tap on "Build number"  7 times to enable developer options. Then Go to Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging. 
    • Android 5.0: the same as Android 4.2.x. 
  • Install ADB drivers (only if the phone is connected for the first time).
    • You may use this ADB driver installer if you don't have ADB driver for your phone.
  • Root the smartphone, as it has to be rooted in order to be unlocked! Here are some of the solutions for rooting:
  • Restart the smartphone after rooting has been completed.
Direct unlock

It's mandatory to root device before unlock!

  1. Turn the rooted phone ON and wait until it fully starts up
  2. Connect the phone to PC using USB cable
  3. Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
  4. Go to "Unlock" tab
  5. Select "Sony Adb interface" in the ports selection tab
  6. Press "Unlock" button
  7. The message "Unlock done… OK" indicates that procedure was completed successfully
  8. Disconnect the handset
  9. Phone is unlocked

Service menu: dial *#*#7378423#*#*

"Rollback Sony security area" function will return your phone to the previous state (as it was before the unlock procedure)

Repair IMEI

It's mandatory to root device before Repair IMEI operation!

  1. Turn the rooted phone ON and wait until it fully starts up.
  2. Make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your device.
  3. Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software.
  4. Go to "IMEI" tab.
  5. Connect the phone to PC with micro USB cable.
  6. Select "Sony Adb interface" in the ports selection tab.
  7. Enter IMEI number in the "Phone IMEI" field.
  8. Press "Repair IMEI" button.
  9. The message "Done" indicates that procedure was completed successfully.
  10. Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can turn the phone off.
  11. IMPORTANT: After Repair IMEI procedure has been completed, perform Factory data reset via phone's menu:
    • Settings -> Backup & reset -> Factory Data Reset -> Reset Phone
    • Select option option "Erase everything", and confirm that

How to flash the phone with IMEI repaired by the software: You need to open "Service" tab and complete "Rollback Sony security area" process, after that you can write the firmware.

"Rollback Sony security area" function will return your phone to the previous state (as it was before the repair IMEI procedure)

Repair Security Area

In case some phone's data is damaged by third party tool, the software gives you an opportunity to use "Repair security area" option

It's mandatory to root device before this procedure!

  1. Download Repair file for your phone from Sigma section of boot-loader.com website -> Sony -> Repair_Files
  2. Turn the rooted phone ON and wait until it fully starts up
  3. Connect the phone to PC using USB cable
  4. Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
  5. Go to "Qualcomm" tab
  6. Select "Sony ADB interface" in the ports selection tab
  7. Choose SonyXperiaConvertor.skf Repair File (in SKF format)
  8. Press "Repair Security Area" button and wait for the procedure to finish

Important: It would be impossible to perform "Rollback Sony security area" process after Repair procedure!

Reminder! Before servicing the phone, please make sure that:

  1. You use the latest version of the software
  2. Battery must be connected to the phone's board and fully charged. Especially while performing operations using testpoint.
  3. All the side programs, that may interfere with the phone, are closed
  4. Phone’s cable and device itself should not be disconnected or disturbed until the procedure is fully completed
  5. Connect phone to USB port placed on the backside of PC (motherboard's USB port)
    Do not connect or disconnect other USB cables into the PC during the actual work with the phone
  6. Avoid using any kind of USB HUBs and long USB cables. Use the shortest-length USB cable available.
  7. Phone has stock (factory) firmware version
  8. SIM card is removed
