Qualcomm Hexagon: Sony, Motorola, ZTE and Other Devices
Preparations Before Servicing Procedures
- Remove SIM card and then power the phone ON.
- Enable USB debugging on your device:
- Android 2.0-2.3.x: Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging
- Android 3.0- 4.1.x: Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
- Android 4.2.x and higher: Settings > About Phone > Build number > Tap on "Build number" 7 times to enable developer options. Then Go to Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging.
- Android 5.0: the same as Android 4.2.x.
- Install ADB drivers (only if the phone is connected for the first time).
- You may use this ADB driver installer if you don't have ADB driver for your phone.
- Drivers for Motorola devices
- Root the smartphone, as it has to be rooted in order to be unlocked! Here are some of the solutions for rooting:
- Using the software (Adb mode -> Root)
- Vroot
- Kingo root
- Motorola MotoX-series smartphones: see “Which versions of Android can I service without rooting?”.
- Restart the smartphone after rooting has been completed.
Whether to root your phone or not before servicing depends on the Android version of your mobile phone. Please, have a look at this list to find out whether you need to root your device or not.
Unlock
Motorola devices: see “Which versions of Android can I service without rooting?”
Other devices: It's mandatory to root a device before unlock!
ZTE Z730 / Avea inTouch 4: for this rooted phone you have to dial *983*87274# and select "ADB+Diag". Then proceed to servicing procedure
- Close all third-party programs which may interfere with the phone.
- Turn the rooted phone ON and wait until it fully starts up.
- Make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your device.
- Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software.
- Go to "Unlock" tab.
- Connect the phone to PC with micro USB cable.
- Select " Adb interface" in the ports selection tab.
- Press "Unlock" button.
During the operation the phone may reboot once, so don’t disconnect it before finishing the service operation and strictly follow the software commands! - Message "Unlocking phone… Done" indicates that procedure has been completed successfully.
- Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can disconnect the phone.
For Sony smartphones: Phone will return to the original state (will become locked) after firmware flashing procedure
Repeat service procedure once again after firmware update.
- Select t "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
- Go to "Unlock" tab
- Turn on the phone without SIM-card inserted
- Connect the phone to PC with USB cable
- Install the required USB Driver
- Select “Adb interface” in the ports selection tab
- Press "Unlock" button
- Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can turn off the phone
- Download Smartphone Software Update Tool from here or here, run it (User ID: Administrator, pass: ustest)
- Download Q415 downgrade file from Boot-loader -> Micromax -> Q415 -> )
- Flash the device (your phone will be downgraded to SW_V2.0 version)
- Repair IMEI with the software following the instructions in the manual
After this you can upgrade your phone to SW_V2.8. Your phone will remain unlocked.
Motorola devices: see “Which versions of Android can I service without rooting?”
Other devices: It's mandatory to root a device before unlock!
- Turn the rooted phone ON and wait until it fully starts up.
- Make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your device.
- Connect the phone to PC using USB cable and no more further actions should be taken with the phone while the procedure is in progress!
- Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software.
- Go to "Unlock" tab.
- Select "Adb interface" in the ports selection tab.
- Press "Get Unlock Codes" button.
During the operation the phone may reboot once, so don’t disconnect it before finishing the service operation and strictly follow the the software commands! - Message "Reading Unlock Codes… OK" indicates that the procedure has been completed successfully.
- Disconnect the handset.
The software doesn't show unlock codes for ZTE smartphones. It shows "Lock Status" and indicates a number of code entry attempts remaining (near each code type).
Closed lock: active unlock code
Open lock: inactive unlock code
Perform Read codes or Unlock procedures in order to read SPC code. The code is displayed in a log.
Repair (with rooting)
Motorola devices: see “Which versions of Android can I service without rooting?”
Other devices: It's mandatory to root a device before the procedure!
ZTE Z730 / Avea inTouch 4: for this rooted phone you have to dial *983*87274# and select "ADB+Diag". Then proceed to servicing procedure
- Turn the rooted phone ON and wait until it fully starts up.
- Make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your device.
- Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software.
- Go to "IMEI" tab.
- Connect the phone to PC with micro USB cable.
- Adjust phone’s USB settings: tap on "HiSuite Huawei"
- Select "ADB interface" in the ports selection tab.
- Enter IMEI number in the "Phone IMEI" field.
- Press "Repair IMEI" button.
During the operation the phone may reboot once, so don’t disconnect it before finishing the service operation and strictly follow the software commands! - The message "Done" indicates that procedure was completed successfully.
- Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can turn the phone off.
For Sony smartphones: Phone will return to the original state after flashing (old IMEI number will return)
Repeat service procedure once again after firmware update.
- Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
- "Phone model" dropdown box has to be set to "Autodetect"
- Go to "IMEI" tab
- Turn the phone on without SIM-card inserted
- Connect the phone to PC with USB cable
- Install the required USB Driver
- Select “Adb interface” in the ports selection tab
- Enter IMEI number in the "Phone IMEI" field.
- Press "Repair IMEI" button
- Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can turn off the phone
Repair (for ZTE-based devices, without rooting)
- Turn ON the phone, dial *983*87274# and choose "only Diag"
- Select "Qualcomm" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
- Go to "IMEI" tab
- Install the required Android USB Driver Installer (only if the phone is connected for the first time)
- Connect the phone to PC with USB-cable
- Select Diagnostic port in the ports selection tab
- Enter IMEI number in the "Phone IMEI" field
- Press "Restore IMEI" button
- The message "Done" indicates that the procedure was completed successfully
- Select "Qualcomm" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
- "Phone model" dropdown box has to be set to "Autodetect"
- Go to "IMEI" tab
- Set the phone to "FTM" mode:
- Switch the device off
- Press Volume Down and Power On buttons simultaneously until you see "FTM" message on the phone's screen
- Connect the phone to PC with USB-cable
- Install the required USB Driver Installer (only if the phone is connected for the first time)
- Select diagnostic port in the ports selection tab
- Enter IMEI number in the "Phone IMEI" field
- Press "Repair IMEI" button
- Message "Done" indicates that the procedure was completed successfully
- Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can turn the phone off
FRP remove
- Select "Qualcomm" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
- "Phone model" dropdown box has to be set to "Autodetect" or to required ZTE model (if it is present in the list)
- Go to "Service" tab
- Set the phone to "FTM" mode:
- Switch the device off
- Press Volume Down and Power On buttons simultaneously until you see "FTM" message on the phone's screen
- Connect the phone to PC with USB-cable
- Install the required USB Driver Installer (only if the phone is connected for the first time)
- Select diagnostic port in the ports selection tab
- Press "Remove FRP / Huawei ID" button
- Message "Done" indicates that the procedure was completed successfully
- Wait for the message "Restarting phone... Done" to appear in dialog window; only after that you can turn the phone off
Bootloader
Rooting: see “Which versions of Android can I service without rooting?”
Unlocking of bootloader:
- Select "Android ADB" platform from the tab menu in the upper left side of the software
- Go to "Qualcomm" tab
- Power the phone ON and wait until it starts completely
- Make sure that USB debugging is enabled on your device
- Connect your device to PC with USB cable
- Install a required ADB driver (only if the phone is connected for the first time)
- Select "ADB Android Interface" in the ports selection tab
- Press "Unlock Motorola bootloader" button
During the operation the phone may reboot once, so don’t disconnect it before finishing the service operation and strictly follow the software commands! - The message "Done" indicates that procedure was completed successfully
- Disconnect the handset, remove and insert the battery
Important hints:
- This solution works with devices running on Android version lower than 4.4.4.
- Devices with non-unlockable bootloader: the solution opens access to rooting, servicing, installing custom firmware and other operations with firmwares lower than Android 4.4.4
- The operation is irreversible, and therefore the bootloader will remain unlocked forever.
- After bootloader of your device has been unlocked, a warning message “Bootloader is unlocked” will be shown instead of the original Motorola logo.

Reminder! Before servicing the phone, please make sure that:
- You use the latest version of the software
- Battery must be connected to the phone's board and fully charged. Especially while performing operations using testpoint.
- All the side programs, that may interfere with the phone, are closed
- Phone’s cable and device itself should not be disconnected or disturbed until the procedure is fully completed
- Connect phone to USB port placed on the backside of PC (motherboard's USB port)
Do not connect or disconnect other USB cables into the PC during the actual work with the phone - Avoid using any kind of USB HUBs and long USB cables. Use the shortest-length USB cable available.
- Phone has stock (factory) firmware version
- SIM card is removed
